  15. Thank you for looking at VirusNet, an automatic anti-virus and
  16. disaster recovery system from Safetynet, Inc.  This eval is identical
  17. to the live package except for a few Eval messages displayed on its
  18. screens.  VirusNet has passed the certification tests of independent
  19. agencies such as the National Computer Security Association and
  20. provides effective protection against viruses.

  22. A. Installing VirusNet from Windows
  23.  
  24. 1. Start Microsoft Windows.
  25. 2. Run SETUP.EXE from the directory where VirusNet files are stored.
  26. 3. You will have the option of creating a Program Manager or desktop
  27.    group to launch the VirusNet programs.  If you are not using Program
  28.    Manager or Windows95, add VNWIN.EXE to your menu shell.

  30. B. Installing VirusNet from DOS

  32. The DOS eval is installed by copying the VirusNet files to a directory.

  38. VirusNet can be run from the DOS command-line or through its DOS and
  39. Windows interfaces.

  41. From the DOS command-line:
  42. 1. Run VN.EXE to receive a list of command-line options.
  43.    - To scan your C: drive, type VN C:
  44.  
  45. From Windows:
  46. 1. Select the "VirusNet" icon or run VNWIN.EXE directly.
  47.    - Extensive context-sensitive help is available by pressing F1.
  48. 2. Click on the "Begin Scan" button from the Express Scan window.

  50. From DOS:
  51. 1. Run the VNDOS.EXE program.
  52.    - Context-sensitive help is available by pressing F1.
  53. 2. Click on the "Begin Scan" button from the Express Scan window.

  55. From DOS Command-line:
  56. 1. Run the VN.EXE program without any parameters for various options.
  57.    Examples:
  58.    - To scan drive C:, run                      VN C:
  59.    - To scan drive C: and disinfect virus, run  VN C: /DISINF
  60.    - To scan all hard drive partitions, run     VN /HARD

  66. The DOS and Windows versions of VirusNet operate in a similar way.
